A small, unique vineyard on a smooth Irpinian hill facing the winery. But those vines had their own unique story to tell: they were actually vines of Merlot, the only vines of Merlot in Irpinia. So we decided to allow them to tell their story by creating a single vineyard, 100% Merlot wine, elegant and fresh. In a terroir universally known for indigenous grapes, it is the only International variety we produce because it has been with us for so long (over 80 years). We decided to call this wine 'Patrimo' (from the latin word pater, meaning 'father') to pay a tribute to our fathers farmers who enjoyed and protected it so much. Only few vines per hectar, each wine transmitting this wonderful story.

A long wait that goes on for at least another year, the time needed for Serpico to refine 'just right' in the bottle, in the shelter of the beautiful Irpinian cellar. Ruby red in colour, its bouquet is complex and clearly recalls cherry jam, sweet spices, liquorice, coffee and cocoa. Balanced in the mouth, thanks to the distinct minerality that balances the rich body. The name Puro del Duca comes from the location of the vineyard, in Costa del Duca, in the commune of Castelvenere. A pure Aglianico, this wine reveals itself to be pleasantly complex and endowed with great personality. But let's proceed with order. The grapes are harvested towards the end of October or at the beginning of November. Traditional vinification begins with the maceration of the skins, to extract colour and tannins and begin the fermentation phase at a controlled temperature. Generally, it takes about 20 - 25 days for this phase to be completed, at which point, after racking, the wine is put into oak barriques for at least six months. Only then is it ready to meet the bottle, where it continues to age for a few months. A meditation wine, full-bodied and important, this Aglianico has a garnet red colour. Its aromas are intense and complex. They call to mind ripe red fruits, spices and a slight toasted background. In the mouth it is soft, enveloping, structured and balanced. A wine characterised by a high persistence of taste, it has important tannins that require the right combination with red meats, better if grilled.

This is Rue 333, Taurasi DOCG, the top in terms of quality when it comes to reds made from Aglianico grapes, the noblest of the noble red grape varieties of our southern Italy. In this case we are talking about a wine produced from grapes harvested in the vineyards of Nativ, which are rooted in volcanic soils. The grapes are harvested in October, when the heat and sun of the summer season have allowed the bunches to reach perfect aromatic and phenolic ripeness. In the cellar, cold pre-maceration, followed by about 20 days' maceration of the skins. Fermentation with selected yeasts, followed by malolactic fermentation in French oak barriques. The same containers are then chosen for the maturation phase. This is a beautiful red wine with a brilliant ruby red colour. On the nose the intense notes of ripe fruit, prepare whoever takes the first sip. In the mouth you find a wine characterized by a nice harmonious and velvety taste, with the characteristic notes of Maiatica cherry, typical of the Agro Taurasino valley, and liquorice. A wine of good body and important structure, it requires a combination with red meats or game. It is also perfect with first courses based on meat sauces, such as pappardelle with wild boar ragout.

The other face of Aglianico, we could say. Basilisco, in fact, although owned by Campana Feudi di San Gregorio, is a Lucanian company. 'Basilisco', which in Greek means 'little king', the title corresponding to the office of governor given during the Byzantine rule of 'Basilicata'. Whose toponym in turn means land of the Basileus, i.e. of the King. Aglianico del Vulture Superiore DOCG, this wine comes from a pure processing of grapes from a single 4-hectare vineyard in the municipality of Barile. We are about 500-600 metres above sea level, on soils of volcanic, tufaceous and clayey origin. Fermentation and maceration in steel tanks for 25/30 days. After vinification, the wine matures for at least 12 months in barriques, tonneaux, and French oak barrels, partly new and partly second and third passage. Then, after bottling, follows a further long period of rest in the cellar. Ruby red with intense purple hues, this Aglianico reveals a balsamic aroma, with complex aromas of berries, plum, blackberry and cherry. Elegant and persistent, it is the wine to uncork to accompany a rich menu of savoury meats. Excellent with game and medium to long matured cheeses.
