Legend has it that Judas, repentant of his betrayal of Jesus, was resurrected after his death, who knows why, in Broni, in Oltrepò. On recognizing him, the inhabitants tried to kill him. But Judas was able to make up for it again by healing the diseased vines. And so, in gratitude, a wine was dedicated to him. Just legends, of course. Losito & Guarini's Sangue di Giuda comes from a blend of Croatina, Barbera, Uva Rara and Nespolina grapes, all typical varieties of the area. The vinification is accurate and does not involve the use of wood for aging. The result is a wine characterized by a beautiful deep ruby colour, with purple reflections and covered by a compact and persistent foam. The nose is intense, persistent and richly fruity, with notes of raspberry jam, blueberry, blackberry and hints of violet. In the mouth it is sweet but fresh. A lovely velvety red that goes well with tarts or delicately herbed cheeses.

The Riesling Italico vine (and with it the Renano) is one of the most widespread varieties in the Oltrepò pavese, with about 1,500 hectares of vineyards. It is certainly one of the most representative of this enchanting land that is only a few kilometres from the outskirts of Milan and that for years was the wine cellar of the city's upper middle class. C'era Una Volta, a pure Riesling proposed here by Losito & Guarini, is the result of a careful processing of grapes harvested at full maturity and selected by hand. We start with crushing and destemming and cryo-maceration to facilitate the extraction of the aromas. Then soft pressing and fermentation at controlled temperature with selected yeasts. Refined in steel and bottled when the wine is stable and intact. Straw yellow colour with golden hues, the aroma is pleasantly aromatic, with hints of fresh fruit, pear, peach, apricot and elegant floral fragrances. In the mouth it is dry, characterized by a fresh and sapid taste, with a good acidulous note. Perfect with delicate dishes, such as king prawns or grilled tuna steaks.

The name seems to derive from the dialectal "al buta me al fogh" meaning "warm as fire", in relation to the fact that it is a wine of character and body. Another legend tells of a ship from the Austro-Hungarian Empire which was given the name "Buttafuoco", in memory of a navy company located in Oltrepò occupied to fight against the army of the Kingdom of Sardinia. However, rather than taking part in the battle, the sailors would have been interested in the wine cellar of the proliferating valleys. The goodness of the product, the Buttafuoco, would have mitigated the souls of the imperial soldiers that were more easily inclined to peace operations rather than war.

Deep ruby red with light garnet hues, this wine has intense aromas reminiscent of wild berries, blackberry, raspberry and currants. The most autochthonous of the international vines grown in Oltrepò. Pinot Noir, originally from the French region of Burgundy, on the hills of the province of Pavia proves to be truly at home. It is no coincidence that the Oltrepò is the largest European reservoir of this vine, perfect to be worked in red, as in this case, but also in white or as a base for one of the famous regional DOCGs. Losito & Guarini's "C'era una volta" comes from pure Pinot Noir grapes, grown in the shadow of the 45th parallel, halfway between the North Pole and the Equator. Harvested by hand in boxes, the grapes are delivered to the winery to be first crushed and then sent to the maceration phase, in this case enriched by a macro-oxygenation, to obtain the perfect extraction of colour. This is followed by fermentation at controlled temperature with selected yeasts and refinement, in steel, until it is bottled. Bright ruby red in colour, it has intense aromas reminiscent of wild violets, cherries, berries and spices such as black pepper. In the mouth it is full, enveloping, soft and persistent. Pleasant tannin and good structure. Also perfect as an aperitif, with a board of cheeses and cold cuts it is simply ideal.

Harvested by hand, in the cellar the grapes undergo soft pressing followed by fermentation with selected yeasts at a controlled temperature. Sparkling according to the Charmat method, in autoclaves, during the ageing phase the wine undergoes numerous analytical controls to ensure its integrity. The result is a fresh rosé with a fine and persistent perlage. The nose is complex and intense, pleasantly fruity, with hints of cherry and strawberry. A well-balanced wine, characterised by a dry and fresh taste. Excellent as an aperitif, it also accompanies savoury pies, raw fish and white meats with ease.

Province of Pavia PGI, this aromatic white wine is produced from Moscato bianco grapes that grow around the 45th parallel, which is halfway between the North Pole and the equator. After harvesting, which is done by hand, the grapes are taken to the winery to undergo the classic pressing and cryo-maceration process to preserve all the subtle aromas of the fruit. This is followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature with selected yeasts, and an ageing phase always in thermo-conditioned steel. Before being bottled, the wine is sent through a second phase of natural fermentation in an autoclave to make it pleasantly petillant. Intense straw yellow, with greenish reflections, the nose reveals all the goodness of its varietal, with delicate scents that recall acacia flowers and honey, but also peach, apricot and citrus.
