Cuvée Alexia is not any usual Rosé Champagne. First of all, the base is almost entirely Chardonnay, about 90%, and only the remaining portion is Pinot Noir, with the addition of a particular red wine Coteaux Champenois, an AOC (the French equivalent of our DOC), from the same area of Champagne but that includes still wines. The red wine added before bottling for frothing, a minimum of 36 months, gives Cuvée Alexia a fascinating light pink color. A feature of great elegance for a wine that can otherwise count on a floral bouquet, with notes of rose petals, and fruit, especially wild strawberries. On the palate it has the same pleasant sweetness that characterizes the bouquet, with a silky and pleasantly fresh finish. The result of long, slow aging in Veuve Clicquot cellars, this Rosé is good already but enjoys truly incredible aging potential. The Maison's experts are confident that, well kept in the cellar, it can safely evolve and continue to improve for more than 15 years. Waiting for the right opportunity to uncork it and serve it in combination with meat dishes, even savory ones, such as a roast beef or lamb chops. The style of the A ‘ house is unmistakable. Merit of the particular cuvée, created as is traditional for the Maison by blending wines from the last two vintage years with the addition of reserve wines of great diversity in origin and vintage. Sometimes even stored in magnums sealed with corks. In this particular case, moreover, to achieve the desired pinkness of the finished wine, 5% red wine from La Côte aux Enfants is also added. The result is a wine that is strongly structured but with a clear and precise expression, aged on its lees in the bottle for at least 36 months. Antique pink in color, with a fine perlage that makes it very bright, the nose is pleasantly fruity, with distinct notes of ripe strawberry, currant and blueberry, against a buttery background with hints of cookie and almond. In the mouth, it is creamy but fresh. Pleasantly structured, long and lively, on the table it always knows how to give great satisfaction. Excellent with prawns or lobster, some people also enjoy it as an end to a meal, perhaps accompanied by a bowl of strawberries or raspberries au naturel.

Like all Champagnes from the prestigious Maison, this Rosé comes from a well-considered blend of three vintages. As mentioned earlier, in this case the composition includes a clear majority of Pinot Noir grapes, at least 50 percent, with Meunier at 40 and 10 percent Chardonnay. After blending, the wine matures on the lees for at least 3 years. A charming old rosé color, this fine Champagne has very clear aromas of strawberry, berry and cherry that are complemented by distinct floral hints and a hint of sweet almond. The predominance of red grapes in the blend, makes this Champagne pleasantly structured, with a distinct prevalence of dark berry fruit hints and a touch of pastry. Excellent already, it is a rosé that is not afraid of the passage of time. Well stored, it can be left to mature for another 10 to 15 years if you want to enjoy an even richer and more structured Champagne. Perfect right from the aperitif, this Rosé goes well with white meat dishes, such as veal with truffles, or with classic wild salmon.
